Driving is very easy

To drive a Valtra Direct tractor, you simply start the engine, decide which direction you want to go and press the drive pedal.

To make driving even easier, Valtra Direct has an active stop feature, simply remove your foot from the drive pedal and the tractor will automatically come to a stop.

With three levels of engine braking available at the flick of a switch, you can easily choose the one to suit your driving conditions.

Most of the controls are centred around the most ergonomic and functional armrest in the marketplace.

Driving a Valtra Direct tractor

At work you can quickly select the most efficient work area for the job in hand, then leave the tractor to take care of the rest, whilst you sit back and enjoy comfortable working and best fuel economy.

  1. CVT-lever for semi-automatic driving mode
  2. Work area shifting
  3. Work area selection down / up
  4. Hand rail to have a grip on rough terrain and to raise the armrest when turning the seat to reverse drive position.

Valtra Direct tractors also offer three driving modes designed for the needs of different customers:

Automatic mode

The basic principle is simple: automatic mode uses the highest possible transmission ratio to optimise fuel usage. In heavier conditions automatics changes the ratio to maintain the set speed (engine speed increases).

Semi-automatic mode

The drive pedal works as usual, asking for engine revs. The CVT lever adjusts the transmission ratio in relation to the engine speed. The further back the lever is, the more revs are required to reach a certain speed.

If speed is set with the cruise control, then moving the lever rearwards lowers the transmission ratio and increases the engine revs at the same time.

Manual mode

The transmission ratio is controlled solely by the CVT lever. No automatics are applied, but the tractor stops when braking. In many PTO tasks the speed can be controlled easily by using the lever, and if stopping is needed, just engine speed, rpm cruise on simply use the brakes (AutoTraction).

Power shuttle

To select the driving direction, simply move the shuttle lever out of the park position, and in either a forwards or reverse direction. Moving the shuttle back to the central position will put the transmission in neutral, and centre down will return it to the park position. When the parking brake is engaged engine speed drops to 650 rpm.
